Intro
Important things to know before starting your DRE journey
For key-based simulator actions, set and save the binding in the simulator. Check its read-only value in DRE → Controls → Sim. Controls guide.
DRE usually waits to speak until you are less busy, such as on straights or off throttle.
For iRacing, set Max Cars to 63. Lower values can cause wrong positions or timing due to missing car data.

Gaps
The term gap has different meanings in practices and quals versus in races
Practice & Qualification
In practice and qualifying, gap means lap-time difference. If your best lap is 1:22 and another car’s best is 1:23, DRE reports the gap as 1 second.
Race
In races, gap means live track interval. If you are 8 seconds farther around the lap than the car behind, DRE reports: “Gap to car behind is 8 seconds.”
Compare DRE’s gap to the iRacing Relative only in races. In practice and qualifying, DRE’s gap is based on lap times, not live track interval.
Alerts
Alerts are spoken messages from DRE.
They cover race events, warnings, nearby cars, simulator state, and other things you may need to react to while driving.
Choose which alerts you want in the DRE app.
Signals
Signals are non-verbal sounds.
They give fast, dynamic information without adding more speech to your headset. They take a little time to learn, but they can tell you a lot once they click.
Delta Wave is one example. It tells you if you are gaining or losing time, and how quickly that is changing.

Install
- Run the downloaded DRE installer
- Follow the installer steps
- Open DRE!
Do the Wizard
Take a moment to customize DRE using the Wizard in a few steps
Go Race
- Start a simulator session and join a race track
- DRE will automatically start giving you alerts and info as you go
