You know that feeling when you’re on a hot lap, and suddenly there’s a slow car ahead? Or worse, being that driver getting the angry messages in chat because you didn’t see the rocket ship approaching from behind? Yeah, me too. That’s exactly why I’ve been heads-down for weeks developing this new Hot/Cool Lapping system for DRE.
Hot Lapping Alerts: Your Early Warning System
Think of it as your personal radar system for the track. When you’re taking it easy on an out-lap or cool-down lap, DRE now acts as your personal spotter for approaching hot-lappers.
The system is pretty straightforward – it’ll pipe up with helpful messages like “Let him by” or “Hamilton is hot-lapping.” If you’ve got a whole conga line of hot-lappers behind you (popular person, aren’t you?), DRE will even tell you how many cars are coming. You can tweak these alerts exactly how you want them in the Session -> Events -> Hot Lapping Opponents (Alert) settings.
Cool Lapping Intelligence (For Essentials+)
But wait, there’s more! For my Essentials+ subscribers, I’ve flipped the script. Now you’ll know when you’re approaching someone on a cool-down lap during your hot lap. DRE will give you a heads-up with messages like “He needs to let you by” or “Hamilton is on a cool-lap.”
Think of it as your personal traffic controller, helping you plan your overtake without losing precious time. You’ll find these settings under Session -> Events -> Cool Lapping Opponents. It’s like having x-ray vision for spotting slow cars, minus the actual x-rays (I’m good, but not that good).
The Signal System (For Performance+)
Now, for my Performance+ users, I’ve cooked up something special. The Hot Lapping Opponents Signal system is like having a sixth sense for traffic management. Instead of voice messages, you’ll hear two alternating warning tones when hot-lappers are approaching during your cool lap.
Here’s the clever bit – the closer they get, the more intense the signal becomes. It’s like a game of “hot and cold,” but with race cars! The signal automatically stops when you either let them by, match their pace, or they complete the overtake. You’ll only hear it when you need to take action, keeping things clean and simple.
Putting It All Together
I’ve designed these features to work seamlessly together, creating a safety net for those crucial practice and qualifying sessions. The basic Hot Lapping Alerts are available for everyone, while the Cool Lapping Intelligence comes with Essentials+, and the fancy Signal System is part of the Performance+ package.
Think of it as having a really attentive friend in your ear, keeping you out of trouble and helping you avoid those awkward “sorry!” messages in chat. Because let’s face it – nobody wants to be that driver.
Ready to try it out? Fire up DRE, jump into a practice session, and let me know how it works for you. I’m always keen to hear your feedback and suggestions for making these features even better.
