Be in the know before, during, and after it rains.
With the mantra, Rain is not the important part – reduced grip is!, I’ve been hard at work extending DRE to help you in slippery situations.
2024.1 is packed with help and assistance to your wet weather racing, allowing you to optimize your performance. Let’s dive in 👇
🌧️ Embrace the Rain with DRE
Rain on race day no longer spells uncertainty, thanks to DRE 2024.1’s suite of features designed to turn the wet weather to your advantage. From visualization upgrades to new commands and alerts, staying ahead in the rain has never been easier or more strategic.
The Cross Over Alert: A Game Changer
Central to this update is the Cross Over Alert, a feature that ensures you’re always on the optimal tire for the conditions. Wondering whether to stick it out or switch to wets?

This alert analyzes conditions, tire performance, and pit loss times to advise the best moment for a tire change, making it an indispensable tool for maintaining your edge, rain, or shine. More on the Cross Over alert
The Track Wetness Alert: Precision Meets Strategy

Understanding the exact condition of the racing line is crucial, and the Track Wetness Alert does just that. By blending the simulation’s raw data with sophisticated algorithms, DRE offers a nuanced view of the track’s wetness. This feature informs you about changes in track conditions, from drying lines to critical wet spots, allowing for timely and tactical decisions.
New Signal: SpraySense
Very unintrusive (and immersive) way to feed information to the user.
Visibility in the rain can make or break your race. Enter SpraySense, an innovative auditory signal that complements your rain lights by alerting you to the proximity of the car ahead through the sound of increasing rain intensity.
This means even in the thickest spray, you’ll know exactly when you’re closing in, enhancing safety and competitive edge in poor visibility conditions.
Check out the availability of SpraySense in subscription tiers.
Forecasted Rain Alert: Stay One Step Ahead
Lastly, the Forecasted Rain Alert uses predictive technology to give you a heads-up on incoming weather changes. Whether it’s an impending downpour or a clearing sky, this alert means you can adapt your strategy before the conditions catch the rest of the field off-guard. It’s like having your own weather station, ensuring that you’re always prepared for what’s coming next.
These features, particularly the Cross Over and Track Wetness alerts, along with SpraySense and the Forecasted Rain Alert, represent a significant leap forward in race strategy and safety. By leveraging DRE’s advanced algorithms and intuitive alerts, you’re equipped to make data-driven decisions that can be the difference between podium and pitfall, especially when the weather turns challenging.
Visualizing Track Performance: Your Dynamic Race Compass
DRE 2024.1 introduces a revolutionary way to understand and react to track conditions with the new Track Map & Sector Health feature.

This powerful visualization tool transforms raw data into actionable insights, giving you a real-time view of the track’s ever-changing state.
At the heart of this feature is the innovative circle track map, divided into sectors and mini-sectors. Each section comes alive with a color-coded health indicator, offering an at-a-glance understanding of track conditions:
🟣Purple sectors shine as beacons of optimal performance.
🟢Green areas signal improving conditions, perfect for pushing your limits.
⚪White sections indicate stable, consistent running.
🟡Yellow warns of degrading conditions, urging caution.
🔴Red alerts you to poor performance areas, whether from water, oil, or other hazards.
This dynamic health system isn’t just about pretty colors – it’s a strategic tool that adapts to the ebb and flow of the race. By comparing current sector times against optimal benchmarks, DRE gives you a clear picture of where you can gain or lose time. Of course, you’ll be covered by appropriate voice alerts from DRE, should anything important occur.
Pit Exit Clarity
But I didn’t stop there. For Essentials+ subscribers, I’ve added a game-changing pit exit position indicator. No more guesswork about where you’ll rejoin the race – DRE shows you exactly where you’ll slot back into the action, even accounting for fuel fill variations. It’s like having a crystal ball for your pit strategy!

Track Evolution at a Glance
The new Track Evo view in DRE 2024.1 is a game-changer for understanding how track conditions and tire choices influence lap times throughout a race weekend. This powerful visualization tool gives you unprecedented insight into the evolving pace of the entire field, helping you make informed decisions about strategy and tire management.

At the heart of the Track Evo view is a comprehensive graph that plots lap times against session progress. What sets this feature apart is its intelligent color-coding system:
⭕Soft or dry tires
🟡Medium tires
⚪Hard tires
🟢Intermediate tires
🔵Wet tires
Your lap times are displayed as filled markers, standing out from the open markers of your opponents. This instant visual differentiation allows you to quickly assess your performance relative to the field.

Trends
But DRE doesn’t just show you raw data – it interprets it for you. The system analyzes lap time trends for each tire compound, creating trend lines that help you visualize the track’s evolution.

This is particularly crucial during changing weather conditions or as the track “rubbers in” over a race weekend.
Cross-Over
One of the most powerful aspects of the Track Evo view is its ability to predict cross-over points. When conditions are changing and a switch to a different tire compound might be advantageous, DRE calculates the optimal crossing point. This is visually represented by a yellow vertical line on the graph, giving you a clear indicator of when to consider a tire change. It takes into account not just raw pace, but also the time lost in the pits, ensuring you’re making the most strategic decision possible.

The Track Evo view isn’t just a static display – it’s a dynamic tool that updates in real time as new lap data comes in. This means you’re always looking at the most current picture of the race’s progression, allowing you to adapt your strategy on the fly.
For those crucial decisions about when to switch from dry to wet tires (or vice versa), the Track Evo becomes an indispensable ally.
With the Track Evo view, DRE 2024.1 puts the power of comprehensive data analysis in your hands. It’s like having a team of strategists constantly analyzing the race, helping you stay one step ahead of the competition in any conditions. Whether you’re managing a long stint, deciding on a pit strategy, or adapting to changing weather, the Track Evo view is your window into the crucial pace dynamics of the race.
Don’t sweat if you can’t look at the data as you race – DRE will tell you about the most important changes, allowing you to focus on your racing.
