A natural pause in a voice command can happen right when a corner needs your attention. Introduced in 2026.4.0, Smart Turn gives you room to finish the sentence. Acoustic Echo Cancellation helps desktop-speaker users interrupt DRE without feeding its own voice back into the microphone.
DRE is a sim-racing spotter and race engineer with voice commands built for use while driving. These two changes make those conversations less demanding in the cockpit.
Room to finish your command
A brief pause can be part of a sentence, especially when a corner needs your attention. Smart Turn detects whether you finished speaking or only paused.
With Neural Recognition, DRE keeps listening through an incomplete pause and picks up your continued speech. Clear completions close promptly. An incomplete pause gets up to two seconds, or up to five seconds while you are busy on track.
DRE uses the extra listening time only when it detects you have more to say, so completed commands still get a prompt response.
Interrupt DRE through desktop speakers
Desktop speakers can feed DRE’s spoken output back into your microphone. Acoustic Echo Cancellation helps keep that output out of your voice input and allows barge-in. You can interrupt DRE without muting the microphone or reaching for audio controls.
Desktop speakers with wired or USB microphones are supported. Bluetooth, virtual audio cables, and far-field setups are best effort.
Check your voice-input settings
Smart Turn works with Voice Activated and Hotword Activated input in Neural and Hybrid Recognition when VAD is set to Both. DRE uses normal voice detection if Smart Turn is unavailable.
Acoustic Echo Cancellation is on by default under Sound > Input > Acoustic Echo Cancellation.
Before your next session, check that your activation mode, recognition mode, and VAD setting match the Smart Turn requirements. If you race with desktop speakers, leave Acoustic Echo Cancellation enabled.
