DRE supports controller buttons for built-in simulator commands and keyboard or controller inputs for DRE-global shortcuts and custom Command Binds.
For built-in simulator commands, optionally assign a controller button in DRE → Controls → Sim. DRE reads the simulator binding and sends it when the action is requested by voice or that controller input.
Actions DRE sends as keypresses still need a supported keyboard assignment in the simulator. Pressing that key on your physical keyboard is handled directly by the simulator and does not activate the DRE command. See How do I map controls? for setup details.
JoyToKey is optional, not a prerequisite for DRE’s built-in controller binding.
